A cinematographer who writes books, a musician who once edited surf magazines, and a photographer who also shapes boards, Andrew Kidman has travelled many roads – all of which lead to the shore.

Two of the most influential people on the surf-inspired art scene, Jeff Raglus and Gerry Wedd have been making their mark on everything from surfboards to teapots since the 1970s. Thirty years later, they’re still as productive as ever.

It’s not often you get to talk to someone who can legitimately claim to have changed the image of surfing forever, so we were understandably excited when we got to speak to the legend that is Mike Hynson about the joys of swapping golf for surfing, the feeling you get on your very first wave, and the sheer pleasure of shaping your own boards.

The UK's largest free watersports festival is back and bigger than ever.
