09/08/2005:// With just days to go until the 11th O’Neill Pro, ASP 5-star surf event kicks off the critical French leg of the World Qualifying Series Tour (WQS), O’Neill Europe and French internet provider YACAST are please to announce that the contest will be webcast live and direct from Les Plage des Cavaliers in Anglet, France.
The live webcast, available via www.oneilleurope.com , is set to broadcast for the duration of the contest (8th – 14th August 2005) and will allow surf fans from around the globe to catch all the action as the French leg of the tour gets underway and the race to engage the prestigious births on the next years WCT heats up.
“The O'Neill Pro represents a big 5-star start to one of the most solid legs on the WQS tour and really lets France know the professional surfing circuit is back in town for another summer.” said O’Neill Pro contest director Matt Wilson. “With the addition of the live webcasting for this years event, thousands more people from around the world will be able to witness some of the world’s best surfers doing their thing on one of Europe’s most notorious waves.” He added.
The O’Neill Pro is the only WQS surf event to take place in the Basque region of France and marks the midway stage of the 2005 tour. With a share of a $US100,000 prize purse and a heap of WQS tour points up for grabs, a good result in Anglet can make or break a WQS surfers’ dream of making the cut to surfing’s premier league, the World Championship Tour. With the stakes mounting the O’Neill Pro will once again be showcase for some of the highest-class surfing the 2005 WQS tour is likely to witness.
The LIVE webcast from the 11th O’Neill Pro will run from the 8th – 14th of August. Notification of the broadcast times will be posted on the event’s mini site accessible through www.oneilleurope.com
