News Textbook victory for Cornish College

[British student champion Billy Norways]

Falmouth College take Uni title from Plymouth by George Mojo

08/03/2008:// Surfers from Falmouth College were in top-class form to take the British Univerisity surfing team title from reigning-champions Plymouth.

The Cornish squad totally dominated the men's division at the event held at Newquay's Fistral and Towan beaches.

Billy Norways, from St Ives, led the university college charge by winning the men's final ahead of Falmouth team-mates Fabian Baker, from Jersey, and Josh Leatherbarrow.

Bude's Paul Barlow, surfing for Plymouth University had to settle for fourth place as the Cornish outfit filled the top three places.

The result helped Falmouth to their first ever team title in the event. They finished 23 points ahead of second placed Cardiff with Plymouth relinquishing their team crown back in third with 54 points.

Ulster's Easkey Britton showed power and determination to win the women's division title from Plymouth duo Ceri Edwards and Hannahbeth Luke. Swansea's Hannah Dixon was fourth in the final.
