Surfboard sparks heartfelt plea by George Mojo

05/09/2005:// A surfboard which went missing in Costa Rica following the death of a British surfer has led his friend to launch an appeal for help in tracing it.

Surfer Grant Glaister, who has spent the last five summer's in Newquay, is desperate to find the longboard which was last seen at the South American country's main airport.

"While in Cornwall, I met a really good friend, who unfortunately died far too young at the age of 31," said Grant.

"He was was on a surfing holiday in Costa Rica at the time and he decided to come home early beacause he was ill but sadly died in the airport. A lot of his possessions never made it back to England. One of these items was his custom-made longboard."

The 8ft longboard is described as a one-off and had a ban the bomb motive with an interwoven black and white infinity sign.

"I was told that the board was put into costa rica airport lost property and never seen again. For the past four years I have been wondering whether by some freaky chance the board may still be around," said Grant.

"I would love to be able to find it and put it back with all his other posessions back at his parents house. I would willingly buy the board back off someone if they had it."
