06/05/2008:// The British Longboard Union ace, who had an awesome year last season, is one of 48 seeded surfers in the Oxbow WLT event at Anglet.
Skinner, who picked up surfing at the World Surfing Games, is up against American Taylor Jensen and Spaniard Felix Palmero.
The England international has proved himself both in big and small waves having clinched the Gold Rush Big Wave title in his home town.
Fellow Cornishman Sam Bleakley, who has won both the England and British titles, goes in heat 12 against American longboard legend Colin McPhilips and Japan's Anri Nabeshima.
Both British surfers will have to perform at their best to make it through to the next round proper.
Before the main event gets underway, sixteen trialists will surf for six wildcard places.
The reigning world champion is Brazilian Phil Rajzman.
Former top American longboarder Zack Howard and three times world number one Rusty Keaulana, from Hawaii, will be among the triallists hoping to make the opening round.
