News Perranporth to host grom search

After running the first leg of Britain's biggest, dedicated kids surfing event in Wales the Grom Search is gearing up for another huge entry in Perranporth for the English leg of the Youth surfing series this coming weekend.

by George Mojo

07/05/2008:// Surfers aged between six and 16 are expected to turn out from all over England to compete in the entry-level competition specifically designed to give young surfers a chance to compete in a friendly environment.

In under 14's and 12's categories each surfer will have the opportunity to surf at least twice - conditions depending, there will also be top Rip Curl team riders on hand - including Jayce Robinson - to give tips and advice on competing and competition strategy.

Also, for the first time this year the organisers have teamed up with Joel Grey from Surf Solutions providing high level training and expert coaching tips to groms wanting to further there surfing careers and learn more about technique and style.

Under 16's Boys and Girls divisions will be hotly contested, with first prize being a trip to the Rip Curl Boardmasters in Newquay during August 4th - 10th to compete in the UK & Ireland finals.

Winners of this final will then face stiff competition from the best in Europe winning a place in the European finals to be held at the Rip Curl Pro WQS event in Hossegor, France, following the Boardmasters on the 15th -24th August.
