by George Mojo
17/06/2008:// The England international won the opening event of the season in Croyde and is 140 points ahead of South Devon's Matt Capel and Bude's Josh Ash.
Harris, who last won the overall title in 2002, will be the surfer to beat in the Fat Face Night Surf at Lusty Glaze in what his home town.
Bude's Reubyn Ash leads the Pro Junior ratings from Newquay's Tom Butler and Constantine Bay's Toby Donachie.
Donachie heads the U16 boys section and is being chased hard by fellow Cornish surfers Josh Piper, from Watergate, and Newquay's Tom Good.
Nicole Morgan, from Northern Ireland, heads the women's division although former Cornish champion Sarah Bentley has a great chance to close the gap at Lusty with local advantage.
Friend and Aggie surfer Hanabeth Luke is also perfectly placed in fourth position ahead of the event and with just 60 points separating her and third placed Jenny Horbas, from Bournemouth.
Zoe Sheath could make it two wins in a row in the U16 girls at Lusty although the Devon trio of Lucy Campbell, Harriet Knight and Jemima James - currently ranked in second the fourth - will be doing all they can to take top honours.
Liskeard's Ed Smith is making the early running in the U12 Open after a superb first win of the season at Croyde. Newquay's Dale Foster, who came second, and third placed Jack Davies are in hot pursuit.
Cornwall's James Parry will be looking to go one better at Lusty Glaze following his second place finish to Chris Thompson, from the Isle of Wight first time out.
Fellow Cornishmen Gary Woodward and Nicolas Keruzec are in striking distance currently lying in 4th and 5th place respectively.
The Fat Face Night Surf event is being staged, surf permitting, on June 27 and 28 and is a 2 star UK Pro Tour competition.
