News “Best management” practices workshop for Tijuana River Valley

On Tuesday we collaborated with the County of San Diego Agricultural Department to hold a “best management” practices workshop for Tijuana River Valley agricultural operators. by Serge Dedina

15/12/2005:// On Tuesday we collaborated with the County of San Diego Agricultural Department to hold a “best management” practices workshop for Tijuana River Valley agricultural operators. This is a first start on really making sure we a have a comprehensive system in place to keep our beaches open. We thank the County for allowing us to help out and our friends in the Valley who are committed to doing the right thing and working together to clean up the Valley and our beaches.

The article below is an excellent analysis of why our beaches will continue to be closed even after this problematic project—Bajagua-- is completed and why instead of focusing on clean beaches, our some of our public officials have instead spent their time lobbying for their campaign contributors who stand to make millions of dollars from our polluted beaches.

And while surfing outside at the Sloughs on Sunday with lots of good friends (a classic beautiful day), the entire western portion of Tijuana was unveiled—truly our biggest trouble spot for pollution—that the Bajaagua project will have no impact on.

Wildcoast will continue to fight for a COMPREHENSIVE CLEAN WATER COMMUNITY ACTION PLAN so that our beaches are clean, our surf is unpolluted and our kids don’t get sick!!!

Mahalo and Happy Holidays. Serge/Wildcoast, Imperial Beach, California.
