Cornish surfer takes honors by George Mojo

19/04/2006:// Cornish surfers took the top honours at the opening British Longboard Union event of the season in Perranporth.

British champion Sam Bleakley relished the onshore waves to start the 2006 season in style.

The Sennen surfer has taken an early lead in the senior men's division after seeing off a strong challenge from second-placed Ben Skinner, from Newquay.

European champion Elliot Dudley finished in third spot ahead of fellow Welshman Dan Harris.

Cornwall also saw success in the Junior final with Adam Griffiths taking top spot ahead of Devon trio Ben Haworth, Ben Howey and Brendon Muir.

In the women's event, Jersey's Grace Davies proved too strong for Candice O'Donnell, Louise West and Emma Fitzhenrty, all from Cornwall.

Adrian Howell used all his experience to take the Masters honours with Plymouth University lecturer Malcolm Findlay back in second place.
