Braunton school excel in Championships

28/04/2006:// Braunton School continued their domination of the annual Lost/ Body Glove British Schools Championships to seal their third victory in a row at Woolacombe Bay.
The North Devon School are so strong that their B Team placed third with only Newquay School, Tretheras challenging for honours.
Fourth place went to another Cornish school Treviglas and fifth went to a strong Team from Jersey, De La Salle School who dominated the bodyboard divisions.
In-form Billy Norways, from St. Ives School, took the boys title with some quality turns in the tricky surf, second was Braunton's Stuart Campbell who had already won the under sixteen category.
The longboard's revelled in the small clean surf and Ben Howarth, from Barnstaple's Park School, won a tight duel with Kingsbridge School's Ben Howey.
Kathleen Spears,from Braunton, won her first major title by taking the Girls title to end the previous Welsh domination of this category. Gwen Spurlock surfing for Bishopston School came second in a close final with Holly Donnelly from Tretheras taking third.
More than 150 school surfers took part in the event representing 26 schools from all over the Great Britain.
