Ben Skinner wins 60's Stylemasters by George Mojo

16/05/2006:// Newquay's Ben Skinner treaded the boards to take top spot in the Open final at the 1960's Stylemasters in North Devon.

Despite the small surf, Skinner's mastery of his traditional heavy longboard was impressive.

Sennen's James Parry was runner up at Saunton ahead of Pete Sims, from Sussex, and Jersey's Joe Davies.

Competitors had travelled from Wales, Cornwall, Dorset, Sussex, Jersey and the Isle of Wight for the speciality event.

Classic 60's moves including sole arches, hang five's and ten's along with smooth flowing drop knee turns and head-stands were the order of the day.

The Master's final was won by Saunton's Bob Martin from Eric Davies, from Dorset, Adrian Howell and South Devon headteacher Bob Freshwater.

The Hotdoggers 2 was postponed due to poor surf conditions.
