28/05/2006:// Some of the best surf pictures taken by South Devon lensman Alex Williams feature in a special exhibition in Middlesborough.
The Lip Of The Wave has been so popular, the display has had its run extended by an extra month.
The action-packed and colourful images were taken between the 1970s and 1990s and feature well-known characters from the British surfing scene, from surfboard makers and shapers to champion surfers, including: Grishka Roberts, Pete Jones, Carwyn Williams, Steve Daniel, Nigel Semmons, Paul Bassford, Mark 'Smoothy' Jewell, Carwyn Williams, Sam Lamroy, Sam Bleackley, Gabrieal Davies, Simon Tucker and others.
Places featured include Robin Hoods Bay, Devon, Cornwall, Wales, Scotland, Ireland and Australia.
Senior Curator Phil Philo says, "We are extremely pleased to be hosting this exhibition of outstanding photographs by Alex Williams as part of our surfing season coinciding with the main exhibition "A History of Surfing". These images show British surfing at its most vibrant and best".
The exhibition runs until July the 9th, at the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum, Stewart Park, Marton, Middlesbrough.
