News Hot surf expected for Hot Tuna

Classic swell predicted for this weekend's event by George Mojo

23/08/2006:// Organisers are predicting the surf for the fourth leg of the British Professional Surf Association UK Tour in Cornwall this weekend will be "classic."

A nine-second period swell is forecast to hit the North coast for the latest leg of the pro tour.

Combined with sunny weather and a packed bank holiday Porthmeor Beach the Hot Tuna ‘Summer of 69’ could well go down as one of the highlights of the 2006 season!

Porthmeor, a punchy beach break capable of long lefts and right-handers down the shore, is a favourable venue for tour surfers looking to gain valuable points toward the prestigious year-end BPSA Championship Title.

They include Hot Tuna team rider Toby Atkins, who is currently sitting in second place in the rankings.

Additionally, the event welcomes competitors of all ages and abilities with an assortment of amateur contests for both males and female entrants.

Divisions include Men’s Open, worth £3000 and Women’s Open, worth £500 which commence on August 26,while U’16 and U’12 Grommet Comps take place on August 27.

There will also be an FSO Money Move, offering £250 for the best move over the entire weekend.

The finals are scheduled to start at 9 am on August 27.

In addition to surfing, spectators and athletes can expect to enjoy many beach-related activities at this seaside sporting venue and in the surf-stoked town of St. Ives.

During the competition, the event sponsors will be inviting all the surfers and families to enjoy a barbecue and complimentary beer , and a party at a venue to-be-confirmed is in the works.
