News Dakine unites with Project Blue Initiative

Action Sports Industry Joins Together to Protect Ocean, Waves and Beaches by Michelle Prescott

28/01/2007:// DAKINE, the leading accessory manufacturer, is proud to announce its partnership with project BLUE, a new national initiative established to raise more than $1 million in support of ocean and beach protection.

As the exclusive pack for the program, DAKINE will feature its premier backpacks; Interval for men and Channel for women. Both packs will be embroidered with project BLUE logos and $2 of each sale will be donated to the Surfrider Foundation. Set to launch in-stores in June 2007, the DAKINE premier packs will be distributed through current DAKINE retailers as well as special project BLUE outlets and events.

Project BLUE is a great opportunity for DAKINE to support Surfrider and an opportunity to work with our friends in the industry,” said DAKINE’s Mike Madlener. “We love stuff like this, and we said yes right away.”

The Interval, a favorite in DAKINE’s surf pack collection, features a removable seam-sealed wetsuit bag, insulated cooler pocket, padded laptop sleeve as well as organizational pockets and cord port. The girls Channel pack features a contoured shoulder strap designed specifically for a girl’s frame, padded laptop sleeve, insulated cooler pocket and organization pockets. To further promote the sale of project BLUE merchandise, DAKINE will tag its upcoming advertisements with project BLUE logos and create links on its website, www.dakine.com.
