Britons narrowly miss quarter finals place

12/07/2007:// Two of Britain's top young surfers have narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter finals of the Buondi Pro Junior in Porrugal.
Bude's Reubyn Ash and Tom Butler started well at the 1star ASP event in Amado making it through their opening heats.
Ash, from Widemouth Bay finished first in his second round tie against Frederico Morais, Hugo Dubosc and Leonardo Belime.
Butler, who lives and surfs in Newquay, was runner-up to heat winner Jean Sebastien Estienne, from Guadaloupe.
But the pair were unable to build on their early success were edged out of a place in the last 16.
Ash was well beaten by Estienne - who had earlier outpointed Butler - Israel's Omer Levin and French teenager Felix Delanne.
Butler also had to settle for fourth place in his third round heat which was won by Morais and French ripper Pierre Laborde.
Eighteeen-year-old Butler was one of three Cornish surfers escorted on the trip by Newquay's Quiksilver Groms team manager Spencer Hargraves.
Butler, Luke Dillon, aged 12 and 13-year-old have also received special coaching at a training camp in the country.
Briton Dane Hall bowed out in round two finishing a disappointing fourth behind Morocco's Yassine Ramdaini and France's David Leboulsh.
Stuart Campbell suffered a similar fate in heat three losing to Reunion Island's Maxime Huscenot and Charles Martin.
Constantine Bay's Toby Donachie narrowly missed out on making into the second round after finishing third to French surfer Antonin De Soultrait in round one.
Lyndon Wake and Good also failed to get through their opening heats.
