Meet Sean Mattison

Your experience as expert buyer at Surf Ride made you very versatile, riding every kind of surfboard from thrusters to longboards. Do you have a preference?
I also ride boards like my 1930s Kook Box to Hot Curls, Simmons, right up to the boards I design to find new ways to experience our sport. I have no favourite but rather I have many different channels that I can turn to – past, present or future. Mind set, approach or conditions are all reasons we ride what we do. I do have favourite boards in certain categories or boards I prefer to ride in certain conditions but not a favourite style of board.

But Von Sol best expresses the elements of surfing that I relate to most and where I think the future of design is heading.
