Thanks to the great work of the Scripps Ocean Monitoring Team, we have now the capacity to look at a real-time Tijuana River plume monitoring animation tool, that allows us to determine the location of the plume from the Tijuana River. This is the plume that impacts Imperial Beach and Coronado.

TJ's Haste Makes Waste
A plan to boost Tijuana's sewage treatment capacity is raising concerns about whether it might do more harm than good. And this isn't about Bajagua -- a separate controversial plan to treat Tijuana's renegade sewage.

Analysis of recent pollution in IB
Bacterial levels on Feb 28 measured 4 million total coliform and > 240,000 E. Coli MPN/100mL (in the river). A northward hike from Monument Road to the pilot channel (Thomas Bros 1349 H4) on March 1 found water in the channel, but no movement. Evidence of recent large volume flows from Goat Canyon and Smuggler's Gulch to the pilot channel and estuary were observed.

Imperial Beach, March 2. Last night, the City of Imperial Beach City Council voted to send a letter to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and California Attorney General Bill Locklyer opposing the proposed TCA toll road that would destroy San Onofre State Park and damage Trestles.
